How to clean stethoscope Littmann Lightweight

how to clean the Littman Lightweight 2 SE ?

Let’s get the Littmann Lightweight Stethoscope clean!

We are now going to clean the Littmann Lightweight all the way from top to bottom. I’ll show you how to thoroughly clean the Littman Lightweight 2 SE. Let’s start from the earplugs, to the diaphragm, and we will even take it apart and clean in all the important areas. I’ll quickly show you how I would clean this stethoscope between each patient use which won’t be a deep clean, though it will be a cleanse that you do many times a day. I would use one of those alcohol prep pads which contains 70% isopropyl alcohol. I always keep it in my pocket most nurses do I think. I would clean the earplugs scrub it around then the diaphragm because that was on the patient. clean that around and then I just give the hose maybe rub it off a bit like that, let it dry completely and then ready to go i mmediately ready for use with the next patient.

So let’s start cleaning

the earplugs on the Littman Lightweight 2 SE you can pull off the earbuds. right away, and then what I would do is to use a cotton swab or a Q tip, the things you use to clean your ears sometimes and dip it in some alcohol and rub it in,everything in, get all the crap out if there’s anything in there. Both sides ! Make sure it is completely dry before reassembling. Then I would go to the diaphragm, take off the diaphragm, again I would use an ear cleaner, that quick cotton swab or cotton swab dip it in some alcohol and clean it. All crevices in the diaphragm, and then also on the brisket I would keep it clean and thorough. Now let’s clean the bell side, that little plastic thing comes off too so I would take that off clean all around in the cracks where beetles like to run and hang out… a Clean thoroughly up and down the plastic part then reassemble when completely dry. If you want to hand in your stethoscope a real spring cleaning, a really thorough cleaning you can pull this stethoscope apart in two places and you would clean all the edges there, you can take your little cotton swab and clean in there, and you can peel off the chest piece too and do the same there. Clean around the cracks just clean in there leave it, For heaven’s sake, let that dry properly before reassembling because you don’t want liquid condensation in your stethoscope. Remember, it’s super important to clean your stethoscope in between every patient uses. You want to avoid this cross-contamination at any time. That’s why we wash our hands so often. Now I like to use these prep pads, they have 70% isopropyl alcohol in them, basically just alcohol and every hospital should have them quickly available for you. You can buy this at the pharmacy! The Littmann manual actually says that you can use soapy water just to wipe it clean with a cloth and that works just as well. may your stethoscope be clean, and your next shift quiet.
