Littmann Stethoscope Cardiology IV Black / Black Finish / Violet Stem Review
To confidently diagnose and make decisions with all of my patients, I needed an exceptional stethoscope with great and rare features which is why I ultimately chose the Black Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope.
The stethoscope has been sent in well-made packaging. The front of it includes a lovely illustration of a stethoscope. When I first open the box, the stethoscope is neatly padded with protective foam, keeping it safe and secure for shipping.
Naturally, the user handbook for all users is one of the supplementary items that the stethoscope also came with. The spare parts kit also includes a pair of small ear tips and one set of large ear tips. A non-chill rubber rim for the stethoscope’s chest piece is also included.

Moving on, the stethoscope has latex-free tubing which is great for the environment. The ergonomic headset is very comfortable to use and fits my head perfectly. The ear tips are a bit large for my ears but that isn’t a problem. I can just use the small ones from the spare parts kit. The tubing of the Littmann Stethoscope Cardiology IV comes in a variety of colors but I decided to go with the black one as it suits my personality.
Moreover, they allow you to customize the finish for the chest piece so I went with the Black finish and the Violet stem. And honestly, I love the combination of Black and Violet in this stethoscope!
About the design of the stethoscope, the Littmann Cardiology IV has thick tubing as compared to the previous ones. This makes it easier to hear the sounds more clearly. It also has a dual-sided chest piece, one for pediatric patients and the other side for adult ones.
Another great feature is that I can hear both low and high-frequency sounds by just adjusting the pressure on the diaphragm. The non-chill rubber rim that came in the spare parts kit can be used to create the pediatric side into a bell.
The stethoscope is a bit heavy as I hold it in my hands or hang it around my neck but this is not a problem for me as I prefer carrying the stethoscope in a case to prevent it from getting damaged or dirty.
For this purpose, I paid another £25 and got a matching black casing for my black stethoscope. It fits nicely inside the hard case and protects it from different kinds of damage. It is also easy to carry around in different places.
As the functions of the stethoscope are a great deal to me, I have to test it as well. I can test it on myself. I placed the chest piece first on the aortic region, I can hear a good heartbeat and no murmur sounds so this is good a sign that proves I am in good health.

Comparison with competitors:
If I compare the Black Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope with Welch Allyn stethoscopes, they are great but I think that the Littman scope has a better sound transmission than Welch-Allyn because of the dual-lumen tubing. The two different channels for different ears along with the thick tubing greatly enhance the acoustics. So this is a plus point for Littmann.
Another advantage of the Littmann stethoscope Cardiology IV is that it has a 7-year warranty.
When it comes to the look of the stethoscope, I do prefer good quality and decent ones, and with Welch-Allyn stethoscopes, my requirements weren’t satisfied in this regard so I had to go with the Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope which looks great and is easier to work with as it allows me to hear subtle changes in patients and is designed for use with both adult and pediatric patients.
